High school roundup: Rock Hill blanks Lancaster for 2-0 softball win

Macey Brazzell pitched a two-hit shutout, and the Bearcats defeated the Bruins on Senior Night in Region 3-AAAA action on Tuesday.

The win gave Rock Hill sole possesssion of second place in the region.

Northwestern 14, York 0: Kori Wancheck tossed a two-hitter and the Trojans pounded out sixteen hits to rout the Cougars in Region 3-AAAA play.

Records: Northwestern 12-8, 7-6 in Region 3-AAAA.

Girls Soccer

Northwestern 2, Nation Ford 1 (PKs): After playing to a 1-1 tie in regulation, the Trojans won on penalty kicks 1 in Region 3-AAAA action.

Lauren Watts scored Northwestern’s only goal in the game. Whitney Hunt assisted on the goal as the Trojans improved to 9-0 in the region.

The game was not decided until the thirteenth round of penalty kicks.

Westminster Catawba 4, Hickory Grove 0: Janey Bunton scored three goals and led the Indians to a win over the Cardinals in MAC play.

Kinsey Russo assisted on Bunton’s first goal and Hailey Mullinax was credited with the assist on the other two. Cat Casey scored the final goal for the Lady Indians. She was assisted by Emma Reister.

Sarah Lynn Walker was in the goal for Westminster to record the shutout. She had six saves for the game.

Clover 6, Rock Hill 0: The Blue Eagles won all six matches played and defeated the Bearcats in Region 3-AAAA play.

South Pointe 4 York 2: The Stallions won three singles matches and one doubles match and topped the Cougars in a Region 3-AAAA match.
