A Walmart security worker helped police nab two Charlotte residents who have outstanding warrants in Lancaster County and are accused of stealing beer, dog food and clothes on Thursday afternoon at a Rock Hill store, according to police.

The employee at the Dave Lyle Boulevard store called police after watching the woman and man conceal the items in shopping cart, according to a Rock Hill police report.

When an officer arrived, the woman and man were still in the store.

After spotting the police car parked near Walmart’s Garden Center, the two accused shoplifters walked to the opposite side of the store, according to the report.

When the officer moved his car and walked inside, the suspects pushed the cart again to the Garden Center end of the store, the report states.

The officer confronted the couple after they tried to ditch the cart with items inside and attempted to leave the store, according to the report.

The man told the officer that they were not shoplifting.

Later, once handcuffed, he told police that the woman was attempting to steal but he wasn’t, the report states.

The woman, 30, of Charlotte, was arrested and charged with first-offense shoplifting, according to the report.

Police learned that both she and the man, 39, also of Charlotte, were wanted by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office for shoplifting, the report states.

Rock Hill officers charged the man with second-offense shoplifting due to a prior conviction in 2012 for stealing in Lancaster County, the report states.
