Chester bookkeeper accused of $39K fraud

— A Chester bookkeeper is accused of stealing nearly $39,500 from a local business.

Marlene Crosby, 51, of Davis Drive in Chester, turned herself into the Chester County Sheriff’s Office Friday and has been charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Officials say Crosby worked for a Custom Printed Fabrics as the bookkeeper. She is accused of making $39,493 worth of unauthorized purchases on the company credit card sometime between July 26, 2008 and Jan. 28 of this year, the release states.

She is being held at the Chester County Detention Center. Bond had not been set as of Friday afternoon.
