— Police in York are investigating a possible arson after a witness told officers he saw a man throw items from his car that burst into flames Saturday while he drove down a street that runs parallel to the city park.

Officers were sent to Raile Street at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a fire, according to a York Police report. The officer spoke with a man, 18, who said he was walking on the street when a brown-haired man in his mid 30s or early 40s pulled up in a car and said, “Hey kid, you want to see something?”

Then, the man threw an item from the car that hit the ground and burst into flames, according to the report. The driver stopped a few feet down the road and threw another item that ignited.

The witness said he went across the street and got help from another man to put out the fire, the report states. He was unable to provide any other information about the suspect, other than saying he drove an older model black Honda Accord.
