High school roundup: York blanks Northwestern in boys tennis

The York Cougars won every match and routed the Northwestern Trojans in Region 3-AAAA boys tennis action Monday afternoon.

Singles: No. 1 - Terry Doan (Y) def. Myles White 6-2, 6-2; No. 2 - Patrick Newberry (Y) def. Trey Helms 6-0, 7-5; No. 3 - Matthew Goforth (Y) def. Elliott Goodwin 6-0, 6-0; No. 4 - Daniel Patterson (Y) def. Andrew Warren 6-2, 6-1; No. 5 - Cameron Good (Y) def. Chase Harrington 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles: No. 2 - Colin Rodenhauser-Christian Wells (Y) def. Jacob Pope-Sully Foy 6-4, 6-2.

Covenant Day 8, Westminster Catawba 1: The Eagles won five singles matches and all three doubles matches and topped the Indians.

Singles: No. 1 - Alan McDonald (WC) def. Caleb Keaton 6-3, 6-1; No. 2 - Spencer Daniels (CD) def. Alan Nash 6-0, 6-0 No. 3 - Pierce Ormond (CD) def. Westminster Catawba 163, Gaston Day 168: Kyle Newman fired a 39 and led the Indians to a win over the Spartans in MAC golf action.

Elizabeth Edmunds picked up the win in both games, while the Clover offense pounded out 26 hits in the twinbill.
