— A Rock Hill man is accused of having sex with a teenage York girl after police say her father discovered that they arranged an encounter via email.

Police on Wednesday arrested Michael Anthony Tirinato, 23, of 424 Oak St., and charged him with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, a week after the girl, 15, says she and Tirinato met at a Rock Hill home and had consensual sex, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

The girl’s father told police that his daughter coordinated an encounter with Tirinato on April 23, the report states. Police will not say how the father found out about his daughter and Tirinato.

This was the only encounter between the two that police know of, said Rock Hill Police Executive Officer Mark Bollinger.

According to police, Tirinato and the girl met at a Rock Hill church.

After his release from jail Wednesday morning on a $25,000 bond, Tirinato said he was never employed by the church, but only volunteered to play on the band. He declined to comment further.

Bollinger said Tirinato gave detectives a statement, but he could not detail what it entailed since it’s part of the investigation.
