An unknown person stole $7,000 in cash from a Rock Hill apartment complex office this week and police are searching for a suspect.

The department’s forensics team has surveyed the office where the thief left muddy footprints after apparently climbing through a window.

The theft happened at Stone Haven Apartments between Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning, according to a Rock Hill police reported.

The culprit took the cash and two cameras worth $50 each, the report states.

A manager at the apartment office told police the safe was unsecured when the money was taken.
