Lewisville at St. Josephs, 1:30 p.m.
The Lewisville-St. Josephs winner faces the winner of Lamar-Fox Creek on Monday. The two losing teams also play on Monday in an elimination game.
Coach: John Barwick
Route to Upper State: It was an emphatic performance in the District 2 tournament for St. Josephs. The defending state champion Knights thumped Tamassee-Salem 11-0 in the first round, before beating McBee 10-0 in the second. St. Josephs met McBee again in the final and allowed its first run of the tournament, but still came out 12-1 winners.
Coach: Billy Keels
Route to Upper State: Lewisville knocked off Ridge Spring-Monetta on the road in the first round with an 11-7 win, before beating Dixie in the second round 9-2. The Lions got a rematch with Dixie in the District 1 finals and emerged champions, dropping the first game, but bouncing back for a 6-0 shutout in the decisive second game in the double-elimination event.
Byrnes at Clover, 2 p.m.
The Byrnes-Clover winner faces the winner of J.L. Mann-Boiling Springs on Monday. The loser faces the loser of that contest in a Monday elimination game.
Coach: Shea Hall
Route to Upper State: Clover edged out Northwestern 4-1 in the District 3 first round, before coming from behind to beat Hillcrest 8-5 in the second round. The Blue Eagles then knocked off Hillcrest, the defending state champions, again in the final to advance as district champs.
Coach: Brandi Aiken
Route to Upper State: Byrnes beat Blythewood, the top seed in District 4, twice to win the district championship. The second was a stunner; the Rebels scored five runs with two outs in the top of the seventh for a late lead that they held.
Lewisville at Fox Creek, 7 p.m.
The Lewisville-Fox Creek winner faces winner of Dixie-St. Josephs Monday. The losers play Monday in an elimination game.
Coach David Bell
Route to Upper State: Fox Creek lost 9-8 in the second round to Southside Christian, but came through the consolation bracket to meet Southside again in the District 4 championship. The Predators handled business, shutting out SSC 6-0 in the first game and hammering them 16-0 in the second.
Coach: Jerry Thomas
Route to Upper State: The Lions, who have spent the latter portion of the season ranked in the state, hammered Ridge Spring-Monetta 23-7 in the District 3 first round, held off Christ Church 7-6 in the second round and then beat Christ Church again in the final 9-3 to claim the district title.
