— A Rock Hill elementary school student will not be charged after police say he brought an air gun on the school bus on Monday and showed it to schoolmates.

At about 10 a.m., police were called to York Road Elementary School, where a teacher said a student, 9, had an air gun on the school bus on his way to school, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

The teacher said fellow students were exposed to seeing the weapon on the bus, the report states. As students got off the bus, they informed administrators, who confiscated the air gun.

Police took the gun and the boy’s back pack where he kept it, the report states. The boy said he took the gun from home without anyone’s knowledge.

Because of the boy’s age, he will not be charged, the report states.
