Indian Land 2, St. Joseph’s 1

Shalyn Dougherty and Maddison Byerley scored second half goals and led the third-ranked Indian Land Lady Warriors to a win over St. Joseph’s in the third round of the Class AA soccer playoffs.

Katherine Kilroy assisted on Dougherty’s goal, while Dougherty assisted on Byerley’s goal.

Indian Land outshot St. Joseph’s 10-4. Isabella Maia worked in the goal for Indian Land and recorded three saves.

Indian Land improved to 14-4 with the win and will face top-seeded Christ Church on Monday at 6:00 p.m. in Greenville for the AA Upper State Championship


The opening day of competition in the Class AAAA State Track Meet at Lower Richland High School in Hopkins is in the books, and several local athletes did well.

In the girls division Jordan Collins of Northwestern was third in the pole vault, while Julisa Tindall of Northwestern finished fourth in the long jump. Yasmine Robinson of Lancaster was fourth in the discus.

In the boys division Ryan Tankerly of Fort Mill finished second in the shot put, while Daniel Bolin of Northwestern was fourth in the pole vault. Nation Ford’s A. K. McCoy was seventh in the long jump.

The Northwestern boys 4x800 relay team finished third. The team consists of Christian Acker, Anthony Dean, Chad Fennell, and Chris Gossett.

Long Jump - Julisa Tindall (Northwestern) 4th (17’10”)

Discus - Yasmine Robinson (Lancaster) 4th (122’4”)

Boys Division

4x800 relay - Northwestern (Christian Acker, Anthony Dean, Chad Fennell, Chris Gossett) 3rd (7:51.07)

Pole Vault - Daniel Bolin (Northwestern) 4th (13’0”)

Long Jump - A. K. McCoy (Nation Ford) 7th (21’6.5”)

Shot Put - Ryan Tankersly (Fort Mill) 2nd (51’1.75”)
