A Rock Hill man accused of smoking marijuana across from the city’s police station on Thursday was arrested and found with nearly $1,000 in cash and 29 doses of ecstasy pills.

Police say Justin Sexton, 18, had four grams of marijuana and the pills in his white Ford Explorer parked in the parking lot of the York County Library in downtown Rock Hill on Black Street, according to a police report.

A woman flagged down an officer while he was returning to the police department around 4 p.m. on Thursday to alert him that someone was smoking marijuana in the library parking lot, the report states.

When the officer checked, he smelled “a strong odor of burnt marijuana” coming from inside the car Sexton was driving, according to the report.

Police charged Sexton with second offense possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute ecstasy, the report states.

The York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit seized $977 from Sexton. Police allowed his passenger, a 20-year-old woman, to leave with the car, according to the report.

Sexton has two prior court convictions of possession of marijuana, including one on April 12, 2013, the report states.
