Tega Cay man charged with 74 counts of voyeurism

The Tega Cay man arrested for allegedly installing a camera in the women’s locker room of the Lake Wylie branch YMCA has been charged with 74 counts of voyeurism after similar acts the Gold Hill Branch of the YMCA were found, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

John Ross Eddy, 58, of 4085 Alana Court, was arrested on June 12. Eddy cleaned the women’s locker room of the Lake Wylie branch of the YMCA where he placed a camera. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris said detectives sifted through the files and saw that Eddy recorded himself setting up the camera in the locker room. The files on the camera date back to May.

After searching the suspect’s home computer detectives discovered Eddy also hid a digital video recorder in ceiling of the female restroom at the Gold Hill branch of the YMCA in Fort Mill. Upon discovering this new evidence, detectives issued 74 more warrants of peeping voyeurism/aggravated voyeurism 1st Offense against Eddy.

The victims, who could not be identified by detectives on the video, are being labeled as Jane Doe 1 thru 6 for the June 12th incident and 7 thru 40 from the Lake Wylie YMCA and Jane Doe 1 thru 40 at the Gold Hill YMCA.

Eddy’s bond has not been set.
