— A York man who went to his ex-girlfriend’s Rock Hill house to give her money was hospitalized after her “new boyfriend” hit him over the head with a baseball bat and stole his money, police said.

The man, 37, told police on Monday that his ex-girlfriend, 43, asked him to come over to her Baker Street house and give her money, according to a Rock Hill police report. He arrived at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

When he went inside, a man he identified as the woman’s “new boyfriend,” hit him with a baseball bat, the report states. The man then reached into the victim’s pockets and took $600 cash, three credit cards and a cell phone.

The man told police he spent the night in the hospital and was unable to report the incident until his discharge, the report states. He told authorities he does not have access to a phone after his cell was stolen, so contacting him for a follow-up will be difficult.

Police made no arrests as of Tuesday morning.
