— Two Rock Hill women told police a man tried to rob them while they were shooting fireworks on Sunday, and one victim was taken to a Charlotte hospital after the would-be robber kicked her in the knee.

At about 8:30 p.m., police spoke with two women, 37 and 45, who said they went to a vacant parking lot on Constitution Boulevard to shoot fireworks when a man approached them and asked for money, according to a Rock Hill police report.

When one of the women told the man they did not have money, he grabbed them and said, “Give me some money,” the report states. The 37-year-old woman managed to break away, ran to her car and called 9-1-1.

The other woman managed to fight off the man until he kicked her in her knee, which previously had been injured, the report states. The man ran towards Cherry Road without taking any money or valuables.

The injured woman was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, while the other woman was unable to communicate much with police because she was intoxicated, the report states.
