Aiken suspects on run after robbing downtown bank

By Derrek AsberryJuly 13, 2013

— The Aiken Department Public Safety is seeking two suspects who robbed the downtown Aiken branch of TD Bank at about 1:50 p.m. Saaturday.

Police responded to what they are calling a “strong arm robbery” and are currently searching for two black males wearing hoodies who fled from the scene, they said.

One suspect was wearing a backpack, and the other was holding a white purse he stole from someone inside the bank, police said. Reports indicate that the suspects ran westbound from the bank, and back toward Park Avenue.

“We're going to get the surveillance video from the bank, as well as surrounding businesses, so we can get those pictures out to the media, and hopefully, someone will recognize them,” said Cpt. David Turno, with Aiken Public Safety.

There were no reported injuries or casualties.
