— Light bulbs were shattered, a carpet damaged and a cash register stolen after shots were fired into a vacant Rock Hill athletic store early Sunday.

At about 3:30 a.m., police responded to the Athletic Warehouse on Cherry Road after the alarms triggered, according to a Rock Hill police report. No people were inside the business when officers went in and surveyed the damage, first finding the front door window glass broken.

Shotgun pellets were found on the floor, the carpet was damaged and three light bulbs were shattered, the report states. A store employee arrived and told police that he noticed the register, filled with $919 cash, had been taken from the back office.

Police noticed that the back door of the business had been kicked in, the report states. Police estimate that possible burglars caused $890 in damage.
