ROCK HILL — A Rock Hill man is accused of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl, making her shower after the attack and then threatening to harm her if she told anyone about it, police say.
Virgilio Lee Vega, 30, has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to Rock Hill police documents. Monday, he was being held at the York County Detention Center on a $100,237 bond.
On Saturday, police were sent to a Walnut Street home and spoke with a woman who said she believes Vega was sexually assaulting her granddaughter after a song with sexual references blared over the radio while she was driving home from Target, according to a Rock Hill police report. The granddaughter began making references towards the song and, when her grandmother asked her what she knew about sex, the girl began crying.
After calming down, the girl told her grandmother that Vega has touched her inappropriately on several occasions, promising that it will always be the last time, the report states.
The most recent incident happened on Saturday, police said, when Vega forced the girl to take a shower and change her clothes after the assault. The girl recounted the story to police, who informed the girls mother of the allegations and collected evidence.
Vega was booked in jail Sunday morning.
