It is time to wake up! We live in a thriving society that is promoting evolution for some and regression for others. We all have a choice in deciding what we will individually contribute to our world.
I am a 33-year-old U.S. Army veteran who was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in 2003-2004. While I was a soldier, I believed that what I was doing was for the good of my country and my family. But once I separated from the military and began to transfer the psychological effects of war onto my family, I realized that promoting war and violence, and obligating yourself to kill on the behalf of another person, is very damaging to the human psyche.
I found it very difficult to play my role as a provider, father and husband, and turned to the same government that I was willing to kill for for help, only to be faced with mountains of paperwork and confusing procedures that were meant to discourage me from obtaining the financial assistance that would help me support my family. I have since been denied my PTSD claim and now have an implanted cardio-defibrillator as a result of PTSD stress-related heart failure in 2009. The VA told me that it wasn't “service related.”
Once again it is time to wake up. Stop sending your children and spouses to war to glorify a government that treats them like second-class citizens once they return home mentally, physically and spiritually scarred. We are human beings, and we should be able to resolve all of our disputes on any scale without violence of any kind. It's time to evolve and work with each other instead of against each other. We all have to share the same planet.
