A Rock Hill man was arrested on Tuesday morning at an apartment on Hearn Street after a friend reported he was threatening his mother and holding her at gunpoint, Rock Hill police report.

The mother told police that Joshua Eddelman, 32, held her at gunpoint on Tuesday morning after she told him she wouldn’t buy him any more morphine pills because of the amount she’d already gotten him, according to a police report. Although the officer could see an injury on the back of her head, the mother, who is 59, wouldn’t say how she was injured.

The friend went to see the mother and overheard Eddelman threatening her, the report said. The friend told Eddelman to let her go or she would call the police and he then allowed her to leave.

The officer questioned Eddelman, who said he hadn’t threatened his mother with a gun and was “just playing.” Upon entering the apartment, the officer found a loaded pistol and pill bottles of Oxycodone and morphine in his mother’s name, according to the report. Eddelman then said he only had the gun in his hand when he was threatening to kill himself or her if she left the apartment. He was then arrested.

After Eddelman was arrested, his mother said that he had pointed the gun at her and threatened to kill them both if she tried to leave.

Eddelman was charged with kidnapping, pointing and presenting a firearm and trafficking Oxycodone, according to police.
