Rock Hill builder offers reward for stolen cattle

A Rock Hill businessman is offering a reward to anyone who can help him find 15 cows that he says were stolen from his property near Benfield Road and S.C. 324/McFarland Road, just outside the city of York.

Mac Leitner, owner of Leitner Construction, says he’s offering $2,500 to anyone who leads him to recovering his cows. He’ll pay $5,000 if he recovers the cows and the tip leads him to press charges against the thief.

He noticed the 15 cows missing earlier this week, he said on Friday afternoon.

The cows were taken from about 370 acres of farmland.

Nine of the cows are black Angus cattle and six are white Charolais cattle.

He’s contacted local law enforcement, he said, who are investigating.

It’s no small feat to steal cattle, Leitner said, and he believes more than one person may have been involved.

Leitner requests that anyone with information call him at 803-324-5665 and leave a message.
