I am appalled at Terry Plumb’s Sunday column regarding the finalists for the county manager position. For the most part I have read his columns over the years and have just considered him a left-wing liberal media guy who likes to complain about pretty much everything except his family, Notre Dame football and fellow Democrats. I have taken most of his Sunday verbiage with a grain of salt.
Now, however, he has gone too far! How dare he impose his political agenda on the two candidates for such a key position in our community. He doesn't know these gentlemen. He doesn't know how they think. Why would he potentially scare candidates away from our great county? Obviously, he can do a better job as county manager, so why doesn’t he send the council his resume? His behavior is more than childish, it was simple, calculating and demeaning to me and, I hope, to most of the citizens of York County, regardless of political affiliation!
“If you are not with us, then you are against us.” So said George W. Bush. But, rest assured, I am an independent, so Mr. Plumb shouldn’t get his hackles up thinking I am a disgruntled tea partier simply disagreeing with his comments.
He has done nothing but complain about our community since he “sort of retired.” He is the most negative person and columnist (or should I communist) I have ever seen! If he is going to live in this community, or any community, and if he is going to have such a public voice, I would suggest he try to do some good for the community.
Can he not be positive? Can he not offer some constructive criticism? Why on earth would he undermine the hiring of a county official? I now officially consider him a traitor and a media terrorist! I don’t know the people he is talking about in this week’s column and I don't know their political agenda, so please understand, I am not writing this letter to him in their defense or in support of their actions. Far from it! I am writing this to tell Mr. Plumb what a lousy citizen of this community he is. In common terms, he is a chump and he has highly offended me!
I understand he has family who live in other cities. Doesn’t he think they would appreciate his negativity and political views more than the hard-working people of York County? Why doesn’t he go join them and maybe bring them a little misery, or have they forbidden him to spread his “Sunday cheer” to their extended families as most of us would like to do here? Seriously, maybe he should think about that...both comments!
So, to maybe the worst citizen of York County, I don't think he could have written a worse column! The only way he can redeem yourself is to retire ... permanently! There has to be, oh, maybe 2,000 people in York County who could write a more inspiring column each Sunday! He should stop embarrassing himself and call it a career!
