Kentucky Derby winner Orb will have a new jockey for Saturday's running of the Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, as Jose Lezcano will take the mount after Joel Rosario was hurt on Friday.
"I've ridden him more than some of the others that are available," said Orb's trainer Shug McGaughey of Lezcano. "I've got great respect for all of them. Jose is sound this morning, he was cleared by First Aid, and he's raring to go. I'm comfortable with that, and the owners are comfortable with that."
Rosario was aboard Casual Elegance in the seventh race Friday and took a spill after the horse stumbled to a last-place finish. He did not ride for the remainder of the card.
Rosario, the nation's leading jockey in wins and purse money, will be sidelined for six weeks with a fractured bone of the left foot.
After the Travers, Rosario was also slated to ride Game On Dude in Sunday's Pacific Classic at Del Mar.
