Chester Cyclones blow past Lewisville

Herald correspondentAugust 31, 2013

— The Chester Cyclones used a series of big plays to overwhelm county rival Lewisville 41-8 Friday at Chester High.

All of the Cyclones’ touchdowns ranged 50-plus yards, and were produced from all facets of the game: offense, defense and special teams.

Lorenzo White returned a punt 75 yards for a score and Quan Caldwell returned a kickoff 93 yards, also for a touchdown. White and Caldwell also brought the crowd to their feet offensively.

White, a tailback, gave the Cyclones a 27-0 halftime lead with a 91-yard run. The previous series, Caldwell grabbed a 78-yard pass from Tommie Sanders, and later caught a 92-yard score.

“I just did what was necessary to help the team,” Caldwell said. “It could not have been done without blocking from teammates.”

Chester coach Anthony Sterling said that the performance was a big improvement from last week’s season-opening loss.

“Defensively, we got more people to the ball than we did last week,” Sterling said. “I would say that we improved about 70 percent from last week.”
