A Rock Hill man arrested earlier this week in connection with the robbery of a gas station on South Anderson Road has now been charged in the Aug. 24 robbery of the Kangaroo Express in Lake Wylie, the York County Sheriff’s Office said.
Antwone Cousar, 30, is charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon, pointing and presenting firearms and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the Lake Wylie incident.
The clerk at the Kangaroo told police that a man walked into the store, grabbed a case of beer and put it on the counter. He told the clerk he wanted the beer and all the money in the cash register, according to a police report.
When the clerk told the man that he couldn’t do that, the man pulled out a handgun, the report said. The clerk opened the register and gave the man more than $100 in cash. The man then left the store and walked away.
The York County Sheriff’s Office released an image of the suspect taken from surveillance video, which was published in The Herald and other media outlets.
Cousar was arrested Saturday after police say an employee at the Valero gas station on South Anderson Road identified him as the man who had taken cash and a 12-pack of Corona beer after showing a gun.
Police found Cousar walking down the road. He had taken off most of the clothing he had been wearing during the robbery, dropped the cash in the median of the road and left the beer and a pellet gun on the side of the road, according to a Rock Hill police report.
