Northwestern-Byrnes tickets on sale; Rock Hill ranked fifth in volleyball state polls

Northwestern welcomes Byrnes to District Three Stadium Friday night in a 7:30 p.m. matchup of South Carolina’s No. 1 (Byrnes) and No. 2 Class AAAA football teams. The game will likely pack the District Three stands and fans are encouraged to pick up tickets early in the week.

Costing $6 for adults and students, tickets will be sold in the Northwestern athletic department Tuesday to Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets will also be sold in the athletic department on Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All remaining tickets will be sold at the gates.

Rock Hill fifth in volleyball state polls

Cindy Elder’s Rock Hill High School volleyball program is ranked fifth in the state in Class AAAA, according to this week’s latest state polls.

The South Pointe Lady Stallions turned in four solid rounds of golf and defeated the Clover Lady Blue Eagles in a Region 3-AAAA match at River Hills Country Club Thursday afternoon.

Senior Chandler Case led the way with a round of 41, which was good enough to claim medalist honors for the match.

South Pointe - Chandler Case 41, Jodee Tindal 41, Jaelyn Tindal 42, Whitney Carter 45.

Clover - Alyssa Campbell 54, Chelsea Carpenter 56, Paige Coffey 64, Sarah Reid 66.

Clover 6, York 0

The Clover Lady Blue Eagles won every match and claimed a 6-0 win over the York Lady Cougars in a Region 3-AAAA match.

Jaelyn Tindal fired a 34 to claim medalist honors and lead the South Pointe Lady Stallions to a win over the Nation Ford Lady Falcons in a Region 3-AAAA match at Pinetick Golf Club.

York topples Clover

Sarah Smith carded a 50 to claim medalist honors and led the York Lady Cougars to a win over the Clover Lady Blue Eagles in a Region 3-AAAA match at River Hills.

It was the second win of the year for York over Clover.

Kimball Prosser carded a 51, Taylor Ramsey had a 53, and Mallory Prosser turned in a 56 to complete the scoring for York.
