— A Rock Hill woman accused of trespassing in her boyfriend’s home suffered bruises and swollen welts on her back and arm after another man hit her several times with a broom handle on Tuesday, police say.

At about 11 a.m., officers were sent to a Piedmont Street home after receiving calls about someone trespassing, according to a Rock Hill police report. When police arrived, Tywan Jamison, 25, told them a woman, 20, walked inside his house even though his mother told her not to.

He said a fight ensued, the report states, and the woman hit him first and he then hit her with a broom.

Police spoke with the woman, who told them she was at the home visiting her boyfriend, 22, when Jamison hit her with a broom handle several times across her back and left arm, the report states. Police could see five swollen welts across her back and left arm that “resembled the shape of a broom handle.”

The woman’s boyfriend told police he saw Jamison hit his girlfriend with the broom, the report states. Police arrested Jamison, charging him with third-degree assault and battery.

He has since been released from jail on a $1,000 bond.
