Texas Roadhouse is coming to Rock Hill, using the space once occupied by Ryan’s steakhouse off Dave Lyle Boulevard.
The anticipated opening is Dec. 16, company officials said.
Texas Roadhouse is spending more than $1 million to renovate the space. The Ryan’s building is about 10,000 square feet, but Texas Roadhouse will use only 7,100 square feet, said spokesman Travis Doster.
The restaurant will employ about 170 people, with most of them part-time positions. Hiring will be about six to eight weeks before opening, Doster said.
Doster said Texas Roadhouse is known for its country atmosphere where it’s OK to shell your peanuts and drop the hulls on the floor.
What’s different about each Texas Roadhouse location are the wall murals, Doster said. The murals are designed to reflect what’s significant about the surrounding community.
One mural is constant, that of an American Indian.
When the chain started it had three locations.
The location that did best was the one with the American Indian mural, and since then the mural has been considered good luck for the company, he said.
