Colburn, Dutch Fork roll to 63-28 win over Bearcats

For The (Columbia) StateSeptember 14, 2013

— Dutch Fork coach Tom Knotts points to a boy playing on the field as the potential future of his program. It’s Matt Colburn’s little brother, and if he’s anything like Matt, then Knotts is set.

“We’ve got Colburn running backs,” Knotts says. “I’ll probably be dead or they’ll outlaw football by then, but there they are, my future.”

With the prolific duo of Colburn and quarterback Derek Olenchuk, Dutch Fork’s offense looked unstoppable in a 63-28 rout of Rock Hill. Colburn’s 165 rushing yards and 97 passing yards at halftime put the Silver Foxes out of the Bearcats’ reach.

But it was Olenchuk’s four touchdowns in the second quarter that separated the Silver Foxes.

“We were beat in all three phases of the game,” Rock Hill coach Joe Montgomery said. “We got beat by a better football team.”
