Rash makes unwarranted assumptions abour rich
Wesley M. Rash has written another letter demonstrating his devotion to the Democratic Party and his insistence that rich Republican millionaires and billionaires are selfish and greedy. In answer to my query about how he felt about the many Republicans who are not rich, he replied that “every ordinary American who is not rich” should already be a Democrat.
Is Mr. Rash aware that 75 percent of the richest families in America are Democrats? Or that seven of the 10 richest members of Congress are Democrats? Or that Republicans give a greater percent of their income to charitable causes than Democrats? This has been true for years. If you don’t believe these facts, look ’em up.
Rash says that “95 percent of rich people will vote” and “over 90 percent of them will vote for Republicans.” This seems high to me, because a lot of the rich people are Democrats. I doubt that 90 percent of these Democrats will vote Republican, and even if they did, that wouldn’t produce enough votes to carry an election.
And to correct Mr. Rash”s assumption that I am a rich Republican living in Tega Cay: I am a Libertarian and have been so for many years. I’m certainly not rich, but I do live in Tega Cay.
