Police: Boy, 11, had airsoft gun at Rock Hill school

A student at Saluda Trail Middle School in Rock Hill is accused of disturbing school after bring an airsoft handgun to class.

Police say the 11-year-old boy showed the plastic toy gun to a fellow student in a non-threatening way. Others saw the gun and reported it to school officials.

The boy ran off after the assistant principal found the black gun with an orange tip inside his bag, according to a Rock Hill police report.

Another administrator found the child, who was taken home and released to his guardian. The boy was disciplined by the school and referred to mental health services, the report states.

Rock Hill Police took possession of the gun. The boy did not have any plastic BB ammo in the gun or with him.
