Kennedy’s Winthrop visit postponed for debt ceiling vote

Joe Kennedy

U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy’s visit to Rock Hill next week has been postponed.

The Democratic congressman from Massachusetts was scheduled to speak at Winthrop University on Sept. 25 as part of his “2013 College Tour,” paid for by the South Carolina Democratic Party.

Organizers say Kennedy needed to cancel his upcoming tour stops in order to stay in Washington, D.C. to vote on the federal debt ceiling.

The university aims to re-schedule Kennedy’s appearance.
