ROCK HILL — A Rock Hill woman sitting on her porch told deputies she watched as a young man chased two teenagers down the road while shooting at them on Tuesday evening.
At about 5:45 p.m., police were sent to a Friedheim Road house, where they spoke with the homeowner, 68. She told officers that while she sat on her porch, she witnessed two teens, 16 and 17, run down the street while another man pulled out a gun and began to shoot, according to a Rock Hill police report.
An officer saw the two boys running on Railroad Avenue, the report states. The policeman tried speaking with them, but they ran from the officer.
They were caught and detained, but refused to cooperate with police, the report states. Both teens know the name of the suspect, police said, but refused to speak with police about the incident.
Police have said in the past that a “code of silence” persists in some Rock Hill neighborhoods marred by a distrust of authorities and an unwillingness to cooperate with them in investigations.
