Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, took a lot of flack for his filibuster over Obamacare, but if you followed his arguments, this is a program that will bankrupt Americans and the government, and make the United States a Third World nation in a very short time.
Medicare diminishes quality of care
Consider that we already have government-provided “socialized medicine” in the form of Medicare, which was pushed through by Lyndon Johnson in the early ’60s. The American Medical Association warned of the dangers at the time, but Johnson and his fellow legislators ignored the warning and the Constitution, and enacted the legislation anyway.
In two generations, Medicare faced a $32 billion shortfall. The congressional budget office estimates that Medicare spending will rise from $560 billion in 2012 to $1.041 trillion in 2022.
Medicare has become the predominant health care for the elderly and, cost aside, has become the primary agent in the diminishment of the quality of care they receive. Medicare rules limit doctors in giving proper care, with hospital stays arbitrarily shortened, required tests denied and numerous prescriptions not covered. In addition, coverage is a wealth-destroying system that forces patients to give up assets and wealth to qualify for coverage.
Obamacare stands to be Medicare on steroids. What part of “we can not afford this” do Americans not understand?
