LANCASTER — Police are searching for a man who they say robbed a Lancaster check cashing business Monday after he held a clerk at gunpoint and later tied her up.
At about 2:20 p.m., a man walked into Cash USA, 947 N. Main St., and held a gun at the clerk while demanding money, said Lancaster Police Capt. Scott Grant. Once he got the cash, he ordered the clerk to the floor and then tied her up.
The robber ran out of the store in an "unknown direction," Grant said.
Police swarmed the scene and began a search for the gunman. They stopped a car driven by a man who matched the suspect's clothing description, but realized he was not involved in the incident.
Investigators with the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and helped police with the investigation, Grant said.
Police did not release how much money was stolen or what the robber used to bind the clerk.
