Police: Boy attacked by mob at Rock Hill park

October 21, 2013

— A14-year-old boy was assaulted by a mob Sunday at a Rock Hill park, police say.

The boy was playing basketball with a friend at Confederate Park at about 5:30 p.m. when several teens walked up to the bleachers. The boy decided to leave the court, when the attackers surrounded him, according to a Rock Hill police report.

They kicked and punched the boy and knocked him in the head before pushing the boy into a fence.

The victim, who only knew the first name of his attackers, didn’t call police immediately in fear of retaliation. His mom took him to Piedmont Medical Center for injuries to his face and around his eyes. Officers were then called to PMC to take the boy’s statement.

The report lists five suspects between the ages of 15-20. Police continue to investigate.
