Rock Hill police: York man didn’t know he had been shot

A York man told police he was shot on Lige Street in Rock Hill on Friday night, according to a Rock Hill police report.

The man said he was walking behind Dollar General when two men in dark clothing “jumped” him from behind. There was a struggle and the man heard a “loud noise,” but didn’t realize it was a gunshot. The men took his wallet, ID card and cash, the report states.

At some point during the evening, York police went to the man’s house in reference to call about his being shot there, the report states. The man did not tell police he was shot and didn’t know he’d been shot until after they left.

An officer with the York Police Department said the man did not report being shot, did not show any indication of being shot and did not report the robbery to them. There was no report created by the York police.

At around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Rock Hill police spoke with the man at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville about the gunshot wound.
