— - A 30-year-old man walking to his car for work Friday morning thwarted an armed robbery attempt by a man with a knife after pulling a baseball bat from his car, according to a police report.

The man told York County Sheriff’s Office deputies that as he walked to his car around 6:45 a.m. Friday morning in the parking area of the Palmetto Place apartments off S.C. 160 near Gold Hill Road a man approached him with a knife and told the victim to “empty out his pockets.”

The assailant ran after the man grabbed the bat.
