Sumter County authorities are investigating the drowning death of a 2-year-old Rock Hill boy who was visiting his grandparent's home.
Sumter Sheriff Anthony Dennis says deputies were called to a report of a missing child Monday afternoon around 1 p.m.
Dennis says it took about 20 minutes to locate the child's body on top of the water about 200 feet from the home.
The boy's name has not been released, but The Item newspaper in Sumter is reporting the boy is from Rock Hill.
Dennis says the child had been staying with his grandparents over the weekend and the investigation is continuing.
