Leaf pickup in Rock Hill runs until end of January

adouglas@heraldonline.comNovember 13, 2013

The city of Rock Hill’s seasonal leaf pickup routes have begun.

City residents are advised to rake leaves from their yard to the curb. Officials request that the leaves not be placed in trash bags or any other containers.

It is illegal to push yard debris and leaves into Rock Hill’s stormwater drains or creeks. Fines can reach $1,000.

Rock Hill public works employees pick up leaves between November and January. Yard debris can be placed in the city’s brown yard carts year-round.

For leaf pickup, city officials ask that residents ensure there are no tree limbs, rock or other yard debris in the leaf piles at the curb.

The schedule for leaf pickup this year is:

•  For residents whose normal trash pickup day is Monday or Tuesday, leaf pickup will occur the weeks of Nov. 11, Nov. 25, Dec. 9, Jan. 6 and Jan. 20.

•  For residents whose normal trash pickup day is Wednesday or Thursday, leaf pick up will occur the weeks of Nov. 18, Dec. 2, Dec. 16, Jan. 13 and Jan. 27.

The city will not pick up leaves on Thanksgiving Day or between Dec. 23 and Jan. 3.
