ROCK HILL — Police say a man was shot to death at a Rock Hill apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 6 p.m., police were called to Stone Haven apartments off Celanese Road after receiving calls about shots fired, said Executive Officer Mark Bollinger with the Rock Hill Police Department.
Officers found Jordan Poirier, 20, dead in his apartment at 1274 Stoney Pointe Drive, Apt. 308, Bollinger said. Poirier suffered from at least one gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, said York County Coroner Sabrina Gast. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Detectives spoke Tuesday evening with possible witnesses who told police of three possible suspects, Bollinger said. Witnesses were unable to provide authorities with clothing, age or facial descriptions.
A K9 unit searched the area after witnesses said the three suspects fled from the scene, Bollinger said. Police had not found those suspects by late Tuesday.
Police believe the victim was shot inside his apartment, and early indications show he may have known the suspects, Bollinger said.
There is no evidence suggesting that the shooting is drug-related, police say.
Stone Haven apartments are located near the intersection of Celanese and Riverview roads, a short distance from Interstate 77. There are 264 residential units at the complex.
This is Rock Hill's third fatal shooting this year.
In September, Johnny Lee Ellison, 34, was shot and stabbed by two brothers during a card game, police say. Last month, Daniel Ervin was shot by an unknown assailant outside of his cousin's house. He was killed two days shy of his 30th birthday.
Two people have been charged in connection with Ellison's death, but police have not made any arrests or filed any charges in Ervin's homicide.
