Stop Common Core now
First, they took away home-schooling, then health care and, last, our guns. Who does this sound like? The U.S. government?
No, not yet, but it could be our reality in the near future. These were some of the first things the Bolsheviks and Nazis took from their people when Russia and Germany were taken over in the early 1900s.
The parallels between then and now are frightening! America now has national health insurance. The government wants more control over our guns and now, through Common Core, they are telling us what and how we can teach our children.
We can’t let them take over our children’s minds! That would be the end of America as we know it.
Common Core standards were designed by lobbyists, not educators. They were not voted on by Congress, the Department of Education or our state governments, but all students are affected by them. Common Core standards are less rigorous than many state standards and constitute a “Big Brother” takeover of our educational system.
In 2009, over $4 billion in stimulus funds were used to bribe 45 states into accepting Common Core through President Barack Obama’s “Race to the Top” program. Four years later, many states want out.
Georgia tried to opt out, but was told to pay back its share of the free federal money. Massachusetts had to lower its school standards to comply. Florida's governor wants to opt out of the national testing standards.
If you think you can bypass this travesty by home-schooling your children or sending them to private schools, think again. National college entrance exams, SAT and ACT, are being revamped to reflect Common Core standards.
Tell your legislators you don’t want it, won’t stand for it and will hold them accountable if it is not stopped.
Washington is out of control
Last month NASCAR had a major problem with one of its races. As a result, the head people at NASCAR fired people. Fines were handed out and some sponsors dropped out. There were major changes made within a week or two.
Not so in Washington. You can say or do whatever you can say or do whatever you want.
I’m sick and tried of hearing this nonsense every day. It’s gotten to the point where it’s a waste of electricity to turn on the TV. Thank God for “Duck Dynasty” – at least they know what day it is.
