Prep roundup: Nation Ford girls roll to first win of season

Brooklyn Bailey scored 18 points and Jessie Ranisewski added 12 as the Nation Ford girls basketball team routed Gastonia (N.C.) Hunter Huss 65-27 in nonregion action Tuesday night.

Nation Ford led 20-7 after one period and never looked back as the Falcons picked up their first win of the season.

The Gaffney Indians opened a 20-4 lead after one period and defeated the Rock Hill Bearcats in nonregion action.

By intermission the Indians were in front 33-10, and they coasted from there in the season opener for both teams.

Termira Bonner led Gaffney with 18 ponts, while Asia Potts topped Rock Hill with 14.

L.J. Peak scored 35 points and led the Gaffney Indians to a 71-62 victory over the Rock Hill Bearcats in nonregion action Tuesday night.

Gaffney led 15-13 after one period and was in front 34-33 at intermission. The Indians pulled away in the third period by outscoring the Bearcats 23-12.

Rock Hill was led by Warren Vinson with 21. Jordan McCraw added a dozen for the Bearcats.

The Rock Hill Bearcats opened the home season with a pair of wins on Tuesday night. Rock Hill toppled Lugoff-Elgin 66-6 and defeated Gastonia (N.C.) Ashbrook 53-12.
