Police have made two arrests in the case of a York woman who arrived home to find a suspicious van leaving her driveway and later discovered her Christmas presents and jewelry stolen.

Daniel Stewart, 26, and Johnie Raymond Westbery Jr., 33, have been charged with second degree burglary and criminal conspiracy, according to York Police.

On Nov. 14, 66-year-old Susan Fox said she arrived at her Springlake Road home and found a silver van in her driveway. When she pulled up to the suspicious vehicle and rolled down her window, the driver of the van said he must have had the wrong address before driving off.

When Fox went inside, she smelled smoke and found that presents for her four grandchildren were missing, along with boxes of antique jewelry including her late mother’s opal ring. Her grandmother’s garnet wedding ring was also taken, along with a digital tablet.

All stolen items were estimated at a total of $6,100.

Police said they were able to recover some of the stolen items. Westbery has been released from jail, and Stewart is currently being held at Moss Justice Center.
