Police are working to determine if the gunman who shot a Rock Hill man several times outside his home before stealing a woman’s purse at gunpoint might be the same man who jumped through an open window at the same house just five hours later Monday night.
Officers were sent to 358 Haigler St., off West Main Street, at about 6 p.m. Monday after receiving reports of a shooting, according to a Rock Hill Police Department news release. When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Dylangen Robinson suffering from several gunshot wounds.
He was taken to Piedmont Medical Center and later transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, the release states. The severity of his injuries are unknown.
Robinson and his girlfriend, 33, had just returned home from shopping when they got out of their car and began to enter the house. That’s when a man wearing black approached Robinson and a struggle ensued, police say. The man shot Robinson, pointed the gun at the woman and stole her purse before fleeing. Police detectives and a K9 unit responded but were unable to find the gunman.
Five hours later, neighbors called police to report a suspicious person hanging around the same house and glass breaking, the release states. Police arrived and found a man looking out at them from the door before he slammed it shut. Police entered the house, but the suspect fled through an open back window.
