Clara and her Nutcracker Prince come to life this weekend when the York County Ballet Co. presents “The Nutcracker” 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Johnson Theater at Winthrop University.
On Christmas Eve after a festive party, Clara puts her broken nutcracker to sleep by the fire and takes a magical journey through her dreams. Her nutcracker turns into a real prince and together they battle the Mouse King. After the king dies, they find themselves in the Land of Snow. From there, they are magically transported to the Kings of Sweets.
This year’s cast features Madison Mott as Clara, Sean Rodriquez as the Nutcracker Prince, Duane Christopher and Leslie Cooper as Dr. and Frau Silberhaus, Charlie Burnett as Herr Drosselmeyer, Madison Rinehart as Mouse King, Kaitlynn Robinson as Snow Queen, Grayson Waataja as Sugar Plum Fairy and Everett Johnson at Cavalier.
Tickets are $12 will available at the box office an hour prior to show time.
The company’s spring ballet, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” will be May 15-18.
