— A York man was attacked by a pit bull that he and his wife found wandering the streets last Saturday afternoon, according to a report by York Police.

The 23-year-old man and his wife told police they found the dog roaming the streets in front of their house on Walnut Street and decided to attach a leash to its collar and find its owner. According to the report, the dog wasn’t aggressive at the time.

The couple was able to figure out who the dog probably belonged to by knocking on some neighbors’ doors. But when they arrived at the house of the possible owner two blocks down from them, no one was home.

The man was bitten in the arm and fingers when the couple left the stray dog with their own two dogs. The man tried to break up a fight between the three dogs, and the pit bull latched onto his elbow and fingers.

He was taken to CMC-Steele Creek for treatment and is currently seeking compensation from the dog’s owner for his hospital bill.
