Two children hit by a car in Rock Hill Monday afternoon were taken to a Charlotte hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

At about 1 p.m., the children, 13 and 10, were attempting to cross the road near the Wildwood Springs apartment complex on Springdale Road when they were hit by a car, said Capt. Brent Allmon with the Rock Hill Police Department.

It's unclear if the children lived at the apartment complex. Their genders were not available.

Both children have been taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Their parents have been notified, Allmon said.

The driver remained at the scene, he said. Police managed to speak with witnesses nearby.

Charges in connection with the case had not been filed by Monday evening, but police are still investigating, he said.

No other details were available on Monday.
