— A Rock Hill man found himself on the receiving end of a police officer’s Taser after he started a fight with a man who tried to stop him from kissing a woman who repelled his unwanted advances during a party early Sunday, police said.

Officers were called to the 1400 block of Crawford Road after receiving word of several people arguing at a party, according to a Rock Hill police report. Police found two men fighting at the VFW. They managed to separate the two, one of whom took a fighting stance and told an officer that he would knock his head off if he tried to use his Taser on him.

The officer then deployed his Taser, which sent Danerion Bernard Starr to the ground. He was then arrested. Police found a large zip lock baggie of 11 individual baggies of marijuana in Starr’s pocket. He was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, resisting police and disorderly conduct fighting. Starr, 25, is held at the York County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.

Police spoke with the other people involved in the fight, who told officers that Starr tried kissing a woman, 23. The woman told Starr she was not interested, but he continued to try and kiss her, the report states. That’s when the other man, 27, stepped in and tried to stop Starr. The two then began fighting. Police saw Starr throw the first punch.

The man and woman declined to press assault charges against Starr.
