— A Rock Hill shoplifting suspect who stuffed two hats down his pants knocked two Walmart employees down as he tried to flee from the store on Thursday, police say.

Officers were sent to the Dave Lyle Boulevard Walmart at about 12 p.m. after receiving complaints of a shoplifter stealing from the store and fighting with two loss prevention employees, according to a Rock Hill police report. Police spoke with the employees, who said they watched Zachary Brandon, 27, of Rock Hill place two FG beanies down the front of his pants, put a hat on his head and a portable speaker in his coat pocket.

He went to the cash register, the report states, and paid for other items he selected before heading toward the front door without paying for the concealed items. Employees stepped in front of Brandon, but the suspect ran into them, knocking them both to the ground. A struggle ensued but a passerby helped security detain him. Police searched Brandon and found a pill bottle filled with less than 1 gram of marijuana in his front pocket.

He was taken to jail and charged with shoplifting and possession of marijuana, the report states.
