— A man and his girlfriend say they were assaulted at a Rock Hill apartment complex on Sunday after a group of people asked if they could have sex with the girl, according to police.

At about 6:50 p.m., police were sent to Oak Hollow Apartments on South York Avenue after a man, 18, and his 17-year-old girlfriend claimed two men and two women jumped them as they were walking back to their apartment, a Rock Hill police report states.

While outside, some of the men allegedly asked the man if they could have sex with his girlfriend. When the man confronted the group, four people attacked him, the report states. The girlfriend told police she tried to break up the fight, but was struck in the face during the scuffle.

A gunshot went off, the report states, and the suspects ran away into one of the nearby apartments. The woman’s face was swollen. The couple was unable to identify any of their assailants.
